The ELISA is intended for the quantitative determination of MPO (Myeloperoxidase) in serum, plasma, urine and stool.

MPO has been described in numerous non-infectious diseases such as arterosclerosis, lung cancer, Alzheimer's disease and multiple sclerosis. MPO determination in the stool reflects the inflammatory activity of Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis.

Numerous lines of evidence suggest mechanistic links between Myeloperoxidase, inflammation and both acute and chronic manifestations of cardiovascular disease.
